Pirat Yes, I'm aware it's possible. It's not really a big deal, people post in the wrong sections all the time. It's like a lock on the door, it only stops people who are going to obey the social norms and not attempt ways to break them. Those who continue trying to break things maliciously are dealt with, anyone making an honest mistake is just helped and politely taught how our community runs.

Thanks for catching it, though. I'll let Clark handle the extension behavior itself. 🙂

Interesting, so changing the tag after the discussion has been created bypasses the approval.

While this is a bit unexpected, I think that's the intended behavior. Approval only acts on discussions upon their creation.

The issue only affects forums that allow users to change tags, which it appears we do here.

Good catch!! Can you open this on GitHub with steps to reproduce?

I'm assuming it let's you change the tag to something the requires approval but doesn't ask for it?

It's kind of a design issue with Approval. It only "unapproves" content when a new discussion or post is created. There's simply no other event that triggers any kind of automated update.

Additionally the "Allow tag editing" permission can't be set to "never" via the UI, so that one is an issue if you want to prevent your users from switching tags as a workaround for the first limitation.
