Shall I use Flarum for a live site (non-developer)?

Hi,

I've been following Flarum for a while now and absolutely love it.

I've been waiting for the stable release, but I can't wait much longer.

My question: If I use the Beta to on a live website, a brand new forum, will I get stuck later with the stable release?

I'm not a developer, but I'm confident I can get it to work.

Or, shall I just go with something like Discourse?

I really prefer Flarum though...

London It's definitely good enough to be used for a production site, but what I would suggest is to avoid using too many extensions and customisations. If you use a more stock standard instance of Flarum, you will run into much less issues when upgrading until stable is here.

There are many examples of people using Flarum on production or live sites. You can have a look through the Showcase tag for examples and even ideas. I personally have a site I'm using and have not had any issues whatsoever when upgrading.

I'd say go for it.

I'm not a developer but know a little but about hosting and websites, but the bare minimum.

Once I'd got my head around composer I was fine.

I have a live Instance running a football forum. It has a small but dedicated set of users.

I have upgraded from beta 8 to 12 without any issues once my hosting company upped the memory of my hosting package.

It's been rock solid for over a year on Flarum.

Just make sure you are comfortable before you jump.

If you are not migrating from an existing package its a no brainer for me.

Hi! Usually people answers that yes, you can, as code is quite stable and most likely you will not have any trouble. But there is still small chance for having problems for example during upgrade. Las time I wanted to upgrade forum I had problem and I had to manually make some changes on the database. I had to figure it out by myself, as no one could help me with it. So the answer is - generally yes, but be aware that there may be problems.
