Issues after migration to another host

A few days ago I migrated my Flarum to another host. I also changed my domain from the root subfolder to subdomain. In short, these were the steps:

Uploaded DB from the old host
Installed fresh Flaum on the new host
Connected old DB to new Flarum
Installed all extensions

Now Flarum is somewhat slower but I can leave that to the server optimization. The biggest issue is notification multiplication. From time to time notification from some user is displayed to all users and multiplied. At this moment every user on my Flarum sees the unique notification that one random user created a new private discussion with another random user (which is at the same time privacy issue too). And that notification is repeated 1476 times to all users.

The only solution to this is to truncate the whole Notifications table, but after a few hours some other completely random notification pops up. This one notification from the screenshot is Byobu extension-related, but the issue is not connected to any of extensions. Notification type could be anything, from "user liked your post" to "user mentioned you".

Does anyone have an idea what is causing this? I tried to clear cache and disable all notifications, but the issue is still here.

hrvoje_hr does it happen for every new notification or only some of the time ?

If it can be reproduced reliably, could you try disabling all third-party extensions and try reproducing ? To try to pinpoint if a particular extension is responsible for the issue.

clarkwinkelmann it happens only to one random notification. That notification keeps hanging there until I truncate the whole table.

After one hour of testing, for now, there are two problematic extensions:

FoF gamifications
Likes (core)

Both extensions generated the issue. Now they are disabled and notifications are gone.

hrvoje_hr if you are using for/gamification, you should disable likes.

Even with all extensions disabled, notifications are still multiplied....

Is there a way to completely turn off notifications?

I hope someone will see this. I think that maybe the only solution to this will be to reinstall the whole Flarum.

Is it possible to somehow reinstall it without messing with the database?

hrvoje_hr you could re-install Flarum, restore your assets folder, create config.php with your existing database configuration and go from there. Flarum will pick up the existing database.

It's not much more different than deleting the vendor folder and running composer install though. Re-installing completely would only help if some files of the skeleton were damaged, and there are very few of them.

You could try to delete vendor folder and run composer install while all extensions are disabled. Maybe some extensions messed up with files in vendor and the changes were not reverted when you disabled those extensions.

EDIT: Found something that I'm fairly sure that's connected with your's @clarkwinkelmann WP extension

Every newly registered user (14 of them) since whole site migration has Flarum user ID = 0 in the database.

They are registered on the Wordpress site and "Only allow Wordpress login" was selected from the beginning (with registration on Flarum side closed).

Would you be able to share a database dump or share access with someone to take a look privately ? I don't have much availability myself but maybe someone is willing to take a look.

What do you mean ID zero ? MySQL is not supposed to allow the same value multiple times in a primary key.

Somehow it does. All new Wordpress users since the site migration had ID column 0.

EDIT: Their "kilowhat_wordpress_user_id" values are all different, but they somehow share values from "discussion_count", "comment_count", "last_seen_at", "marked_all_as_read_at" and "read_notifications_at" columns. As well as from "social_buttons" which is I believe column of Social Profile extension.

hrvoje_hr maybe your primary key was damaged during a database backup or restore.

Under PhpMyAdmin, you could check the table Structure, where the id column should have a little key icon indicating it's a primary key, as well as "AUTO_INCREMENT" listed under "extras". Other softwares should show something similar when you inspect a table structure.

The ID zero seems to indicate both the primary key and the AUTO_INCREMENT properties have disappeared.

Could you try to create a user directly through Flarum by temporarily re-enabling registration ? That would tell whether it's really specific to the Wordpress extension or if it's a database-related issue.

You were right. The issue persists even with Flarum based registrations.

With the database migration I've lost all Foreign keys. Also some indexes are missing too. Is it enough to just add them like they're in the freshly installed database?

hrvoje_hr How was the export of the existing database created ? Traditional backup methods should keep all foreign keys intact.

Most of the keys I managed to recover, but keep getting sql errors for the users and posts tables.

hrvoje_hr Very odd indeed. The keys should remain intact, unless specified otherwise. Who did the export ?
