Emoji Extension

I just found out a bug having to do with the Emoji extension while I was testing Flarum over at http://devflarum.xyzz.work.
When I have the Emoji extension activated, emojis appear. Good.
But, when I disable the emoji extension, the emojis still appear in the post preview, and then disappear when you have posted / edited your post.
Is this intended behavior?

PS: Sorry if I put this discussion in the wrong category, we don't really have a bugs tag ?

datitisev Hmm, I'd say there isn't much we can do about that, this is simply due to how the Emoji extension works.

If I'm not mistaken, you can insert Emojis without the extension, too - it just makes it much easier.

I meant that the emojis appear in the preview when the extension is disabled.

This is just a hunch, but ... Did you flush your browser cache after disabling the extension?

Dominion I saw this at http://devflarum.xyzz.work... I would not think it has anything to do with browser cache, I think it is more of markdown and bbcode transformation to html than browser cache... I would say test it yourself, I can't delete cache right now, sorry.

I checked it out ... clearing the cache wasn't even necessary.

If you go to the front end and compose a post with emoji immediately after disabling the extension, the emoji selector will appear, but the emoji will not be displayed in the post ... exactly what you saw.

But ... if you go to the front end and reload the page after disabling the extension, the emoji selector doesn't show up at all. So it seems to me you were using a page loaded before the extension was disabled.

Dominion Ah, ok. Sorry for the false bug.
Seems that Flarum makes a habit of not refreshing the page?

datitisev It doesn't refresh, it's a single-page application. It does make for fast loading but won't refresh "structural" changes. Luckily that shouldn't be happening too often!
In any case, for reference, the devflarum.xyzz.work site does not cache with either nginx or php-fpm as it does change very frequently. So refreshing the page or browser cache should solve most stuff ?
