Can't see changes made to own extention src/forum/index.js. Problem with npm?

Hi there,
I created an extention/package and included it via composer require. Afterwards i run yarn dev inside (also tried npm run dev) the js folder of the extention. But when i make changes to the index.js i only get the default logging 'Hello, forum!' by the extention inside my console.

tommi on npm side, make sure the dev commands continues running and doesn't quit. It should automatically watch the files and recompile when something changes.

On Flarum side, you need to manually clear the cache, or enable debug mode to disable the javascript cache. A development forum is usually left with debug mode enabled to bypass the cache.

Thanks clarkwinkelmann for the fast answare.
So npm is running. But when i change stuff inside the forum/index.php no changes are listed. Also when i hard refresh the page i see now logs inside the running npm. Maybe something with npm. Is there a way to debug this more?

tommi you should be able to take a look inside the dist/forum.js file and see whether it correctly contains your latest code. The compiled version should be easily readable when compiled with dev.

This would help troubleshoot whether your issue is with the javascript compilation, or with Flarum cache.

Yes. My changes are in here but still will not get displayed inside flarum. Should the extention.php inside the root dictornary be set.

tommi your javascript files need to be registered with the Frontend extender. See https://flarum.org/docs/extend/frontend.html#asset-registration
