Edit permission by group

Hello,

is it correct that it's currently not possible to give the "edit [own] posts" permission with different time limits to different groups and/or different tags?

Are there perhaps plans to make that possible? I would find that quite useful...

matteocontrini that's correct. Only group-based permissions can be customized per tag. value-based permissions are only available globally.

Technically, those aren't even permissions, they are just regular Flarum settings. But they have been placed in the permission grid because that's where they made most sense.

So I suppose it wouldn't be easy to convert it to a group/tag-based setting.

That would however be helpful: for example, trusted groups could be given the permission to edit while other groups not, or some tags might be for tutorials so users should be given the permission to edit messages indefinitely.

Would an extension be able to overwrite the global Flarum setting?

matteocontrini I've not checked in the code but I suppose so.

The easier way to make this configuration-side would be to use one permission for each kind of edit limitation, then scope that permission.

Making a value customizable per group is possible, but requires more work to write the admin interface for it as well as the retrieving logic for the backend.
