CSDA1 Hello, I do not understand why when I remove all discussions and posts from db, that when I make a new post it does not make it id 1? Is there some kind of secondary logging system i do not know about? any help would be appreciated. regards
tankerkiller125 CSDA1 MySQL/MariaDB keeps track of the next int to use (AUTO_INCREMENT) this value does not reset or go down upon removing post. This is not something Flarum handles, but rather something MySQL/MariaDB handles. Most databases have some feature that works like this.
luceos CSDA1 MySQL makes a distinction between deleting all posts which does not reset the auto increment value versus truncating a table which also resets the auto increment value.
clarkwinkelmann In addition, re-using user IDs would present a security issue as the session keeps track of the user ID. If you reset the AUTO_INCREMENT on users, you should also delete all PHP session data otherwise users who were permanently deleted might end up logged as other users.
