Deleting the first post in a discussion doesn't delete the discussion

So I just noticed that if you delete the first post of a discussion with replies, you just the delete the post but not the discussion. Does this makes sense that you can have a discussion with replies to something you can't see?
In case there are no replies, the discussion gets deleted as expected.

But let's take an example:

Hey, I want to watch this movie. Has anybody seen it?
Post #2
Yeah, it's great!
Post #3
I don't like it. Bad ending.

If you then deletes Post #1, the discussion would look like:

Yeah, it's great!
Post #3
I don't like it. Bad ending.

Hope you get my point. I assume the logical thing would be to delete the discussion if you deletes the first post?

My preferred solution would be to make the first post impossible to delete by regular users, forcing them to use the delete discussion feature. Moderators would still be able to delete the first post if needed.

Right now it's indeed a bit confusing, because there's another logic: if the discussion doesn't contain any visible post, the discussion won't be visible in the discussion list. However it won't have the "deleted" icon, so moderators can't know the discussion isn't visible to anyone without visiting it and observing that all posts have been deleted.
