SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Connection refused

Hello.

I'm using Flarum for many years, event if it's beta I found it better than major stable version of other products 😃
however, I have a problem but I guess it's my fault.

I was using MySQL 5.6 on WHM/cPanel CentOS7 Server, so yesterday I used an automated tool to upgrade from MySQL 5.6 to 5.7. After upgrading Flarum work fine (show discussion) but when you log-in I get a fatal error:

Error booting Flarum: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Connection refused (SQL: selectvalue,keyfromfcom_settings)

OS: CentOS 7
PHP: 7.3
MySQL: 5.7.31-1.el7
Flarum version: 0.1.0-beta.8.1 (I know!)

I remove all logs file, then I try to log-in one time, this is the new log:

Before I try to migrate to Flying Fox 0.1.0-beta.13 I would like to tray fixing this and take a snapshot of my server.

I run a direct SQL query and it's work.

Note: The forum working fine when you are log out, you can see any discussion, but after providing user/psw you get the error. strang! 😅

Could this be related to a slow database connection, short timeout or some database usage limits on your host?

A logged in request does perform a lot more database requests than a guest request. So this could be related to the database connection staying opened longer or the number of SQL requests.

clarkwinkelmann But it was working fine before! this happen only after upgrading MySQL 🙂

Can you try the following? In your config.php within the database array add:

    'options' => [
        PDO::ATTR_PERSISTENT => true,
    ]

so that the database becomes:

I'm not sure this will help, but it might reduce overall runtime of your queries.

It's possible to upgrade without losing my data (discussions, users..) ?

saifcoder as long as you make a backup you can always go back if something goes wrong.

The official steps for upgrading from beta 12 to beta 13 do retain all the data, but if the database is unreliable this could corrupt the data.

You could make the update on another temporary server then install the updated forum back on the original server if the update can't be performed because of database issues.
