MikeJones Anyone read up on Microsofts new analytics tool? Looks really interesting, and I am going to give it a try on my flarum. https://www.searchenginejournal.com/microsoft-clarity-analytics/385867/ Here is also the official link: https://clarity.microsoft.com/
meetdilip Replay user sessions and explore heatmaps to make your website work better for your customers and your business, for free. For free and MS ? No sir, I won't believe it
matteocontrini meetdilip well, actually, Microsoft is still giving free upgrades to Windows 10, has built VS Code which is free, has bought Xamarin and made it free, bought GitHub and made most features free, built DevOps which is free. So... 🙂
MikeJones I realized on the analytics flarum plug-in there is no option for just placing code so I couldn't get it to work.
clarkwinkelmann MikeJones the FoF Analytics extension just injects HTML in the footer, then contains additional javascript to make Google Analytics and Matomo work with the Single Page App. Even if it allowed custom javascript, this wouldn't provide any benefit over inserting the HTML right from Flarum's admin panel or a local extender.
[deleted] I won't entertain any site that replays user sessions. Sure, I understand that owners may want to understand how users interact with their site, but privacy is a huge issue here. No better than HotJar really.
bryantmilan Clarity sounds good but after reading comments here I would agree with @[deleted] about privacy. I think Matomo is still better option at least from the point of view of privacy because it is more and more important to users today. Although Clarity sounds interesting, I would like to see how it will turn out, ie some reviews and others opinions especially from GDPR experts.
MikeJones bryantmilan Although Clarity sounds interesting, I would like to see how it will turn out, ie some reviews and others opinions especially from GDPR experts Microsoft claims it's GDPR compliant... But I haven't looked into the details or tried it.
[deleted] bryantmilan interestingly, Matomo also offers session replay. I just Matomo myself, but this is disabled.
[deleted] MikeJones of may be GDPR compliant, but session replay is an invasion of privacy. The only person who should have knowledge of what you are interacting with on a website is you.
