Private messaging extension that works like Byöbu and looks like Shout

As I said in the title we need private messaging extension that works like Byöbu and looks like Shout. I tried both of them and for Byöbu I really hate how it looks and works in a way of discussions but it allows you to contact users a lot easier where with Shout a user is forced to create a PM "account". I know the security and encryption is big part of that extension but the problem is that not even 1% of my users didn't create one and I or others can't contact them. But at the other part it's so much cleaner and it actually feels like proper PM system.

BigMinnie and the rewrite I planned for Byobu isn't suitable either?

I'm going to be honest, it's very unlikely for a new DM extension to be created out of the blue. Unless someone with a need not matching either Byobu/Shout and they have the time and/or money is willing to spend those on creating it.

I'd also like to give a shoutout to https://discuss.flarum.org/d/5133-wip-extension-realtime-chat-with-pusher, it looks like the impending rewrite is going to add a lot of awesome realtime chatroom features!

Personally, I think of Byobu as "direct messaging" system, whereas Shout and @Xelson's projects are "private messaging" systems. I think the two can coexist (and in fact, supplement each other) quite well. That's just my personal opinion.
