"The page you requested could not be found." after moving /public/ folder

I kept having issues trying to migrate my forum to a new server, so I ended up doing a fresh install. I'm trying to install this under the /forum/ subdirectory and when I move /public/ as instructed in the Installation documentation, I get this message: The page you requested could not be found.

There is a link below that lets me return to the forum. When I click on it, it brings me to /forum/public/ with a Forbidden message. Any idea what's going on here? I've retried everything from scratch three times now and I keep getting the same error with the instructions.

For the record, I've done the following:

Installed Flarum
Moved /public/ to Flarum directory
Edited index.php
Edited site.php
Edited .htaccess
Edited .nginx.conf

Jenxi the official instructions assume you have not performed the wizard installation of Flarum yet.

If you have, you also need to update the URL in config.php

clarkwinkelmann Thanks! I've fixed it by doing a clean install and taking all the stops before installing Flarum. Is there a guide somewhere for migrating Flarum to a new server?

I found this guide and moved the forum but now there seems to be something that's stopping anyone from logging in. This is the error: Oops! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again.

Jenxi make sure users are accessing the forum via the exact same URL defined in config.php. Including http/https and www/no-www. Setup redirects as necessary or use https://discuss.flarum.org/d/19307-canonical-url-redirect

clarkwinkelmann Thanks! I've managed to resolve it by forcing non-www via .htaccess.
