Flarum running incredibly badly

Sloth can you share your php flarum info output? Is there anything in Flarum log files at <flarum>/storage/logs ?

What kind of hosting is that? Where is the database hosted?

I can confirm the incredibly slow loading times and timeouts. But it's very hard to tell what can cause it since it appears to be server-side. There could be issues with the database server, particularly if it's hosted on a different host. You could be throttled by your host, or by Cloudflare. You could have a very badly implemented Flarum extension. Or maybe something completely different running on your VPS eating up all resources.

Sloth true, the mail issue probably isn't slowing down the initial page loading and discussion list.

I see you are still running Flarum beta 13. Are you able to update to the latest Flarum beta to see whether this fixes anything?

Do you have a large number of posts/discussions/users? Do you have other websites running on the same VPS? You could try installing a second Flarum alongside the first to see whether a fresh install has the same performance issues.

Sloth that won't do you any good. Reinstalling flarum should be the last option. Can you see any obvious load when looking at top or htop?

What specs are the VPS? What’s the infrastructure? Nginx/Apache? What database are you running?

Sloth looks like you have only 1 vcpu not 2. Also make sure to configure a swap and try to see why that one process is taking up 100% cpu, that's not great. How many concurrent users do you have?
