SMTP Issue

Hey all,

I'm getting the same error as seen here:

The only thing, it was working an then only recently had stopped. I only realized when I wasn't receiving emails. What's making it harder to debug? The test functionality in the email page works.

I cleared cache and it appears to be ok. I also tried a few other things (different SMTP pass, etc) I'll re-open this if it persists.

Essentially, the issue you have skins very much like an incomplete certificate chain, or a lack of the certificate in postfix.

What's your setup? What kind of SMTP server are you using?

I'm assuming you aren't routing your mail through phenomlab's server 😉

[deleted] is the SMTP client using postfix on the backend? I'm using Fastmail's SMTP servers using SSL & port 465. Switched to TLS on 587 an messages seem to be sending now. I'm running FreeBSD and all my global CA certs are up to date but it could very well be some cert error.

The curious part is that it's intermittent. Creating a new user will fail whereas sending a test email will always work. 🤔

jaredwolff postfix is the server component that actually send the message. It's not a client.

[deleted] I'm using SMTP not postfix though. So your solution likely doesn't apply to my situation. Since switching from SSL to TLS, things seem to be happier. We'll see what happens over time..

jaredwolff To be clear, SMTP is a protocol. Postfix (and others) is the application that enables you to send SMTP messages in the first place
