Cannot login if I change web root to use public folder

Hi support team

I have installed flarum by using composer create-project flarum/flarum . --stability=beta, then I change flarum to forum directory and I set root of webserver to "/var/www/html".
I can view forum and click everything is normally but I cannot login. But I change web server root to "var/www/html/public" it's work.

Pls help on this case I wanna set web root to /var/www/html because I have 2 projects in this directory.

these below is structure on my web server

my_website/
forum/public/ Can view but i cannot login

askvortsov Sorry I found this issue.

The /var/www/html/forum directory is not writable.
Please make sure your web server/PHP user has write access to this directory. Read the installation documentation for a detailed explanation and steps to resolve this error.

I try to chmod 755 or 766 but it's not work.

askvortsov OK work but I got others when I go to admin menu. I got this error "An error occurred while trying to load this page."

I try to test on my localhost it's work but I move to my server it's not.

I don't remember off the top of my head if that's a backend or frontend error message. Check the js dev tools console for errors. If there's nothing there, check storage/logs.

jcchan Have you made any changes to source code? If not, make sure your file permissions are correct and your web server's user has read access to the entire Flarum folder (and more than read access in other places)

askvortsov No. I don't change your code. please see at I can grant admin for you if wanna be it.

the folder is fully permission I try to change to sudo chmod 766 -R .

askvortsov I already know this issue. The reason is installation is not completely. I git checkout from my repository but it's not work because dist directory was ignored. I try to clean and build it again it's not work I have to push from my local and run it again
