Hi friends, I want to build a community around problem solving. This is what I have in mind:

User signs up and gets 100 points on his balance.
With his points, the user can post a problem, and contribute points to the problem from his balance.
Other users can contribute their own points to any problem they want to see solved.
When a user replies with the solution to the problem, the OP or a moderator can approve the solution. When his solution is approved, the solver gets awarded with all the points that have been contributed to the post.
In turn, the solver can use these points to vote on problems he wants to see solved.

This will hopefully incentivize everyone to help each other out.
Is there a combination of extensions on Flarum that I can use to accomplish this? I've looked at gamification plugins, but they only have a basic upvote/downvote functionality. Every suggestion is welcome.

@IanM tagging you since you recently updated FoF Best Answer. Do you think Best Answer can integrate with other plugins to accomplish my scenario?

I set up an instance on freeflarum and I'm in love with this forum software. I can use FoF Merge Discussions to merge duplicate questions on my forum, FoF Best Answer to let the OP or mods choose the best answer, Discussion Templates to create post templates, there are so many great moderation extensions, and overall using Flarum is very smooth and enjoyable.

Now I only need to get the functionality for

Voting on a post with points from the user's balance.
Giving the user who posted an approved solution all the points of that post.

I could try customizing the Gamification or Money extensions to do this, but that would also mean keeping up with the frequent Flarum updates to keep the site working. Is it still a good idea?

The next release will be stable, at that point, no extensions will break until v2.0. Even then, updating extensions is not that difficult, we offer [update guides] (https://docs.flarum.org/extend/update-b16.html) to assist developers in this.
