question. When you create a post on flarum, it doesn’t show as following yet you still get notifications when someone replies to your post. So my question is, should you follow your post when you create it or is that pointless?

"Automatically follow discussions that I reply to" is different from the "Someone replies to one of my posts" user notification setting. Either of those settings have their own use-cases, such as wanting to follow along with a discussion you posted in so you don't forget about it. Whereas the latter setting simply notifies you when you are mentioned when someone hits the reply button on your post.
