Defaults on the user notification settings for new users

Hi,

I expect many of the users joining my new forum to be heavily dependent on email notifications, and so I'm keen to set the user email notification defaults differently from how they are currently on my forum - can I change that? Is there an extension for it?

As an added bonus, I'd like to work out how to send an email with daily or weekly new threads. Is that a possibility?

There is an extension Default User Preferences by FriendsOfFlarum.

It enables Someone replies to one of my posts and Someone mentions me in a post email notifications by default when a user signs up.

I read in the thread there about GDPR issues, so I guess my next question is, where can I put text in the sign-up process? I have to make users who sign up aware of what we do with their email address and where they can find the privacy & cookie policies.

Ah, right. I see I would need to create those policies in pages on the forum which is probably achieved via another extension, right?

Maybe it would be simpler to have a welcome email with instructions to new users on how to set the email notification options themselves, which is (probably) also a GDPR compliant approach. Does such an extension exist?

I'm also still looking for an email updater that sends "today on my flarum" messages, if you happen to know one....?

Yep, there's an extension called fof pages. I would recommend it, it's relatively simple to use.

This makes me realise what I really need.

The ability to subscribe to a tag.
