almalino on one hand I agree with you that better instructions help. But understand that I firmly believe that we need to keep the core team lean and flexible. The more docs we create, the more we need to maintain. As such I think that platform specific tutorials are best written and maintained by the community. In case the generic installation section is far too "high level", we might need to clarify that section.
On a side note, for our long term strategy I do hope to create a community learning center that contains both text but also video content to help community managers set up and grow communities as well as monetize them. An important role in such a community learning center would be people willing to add content like platform specific tutorials.
