I come to announce I am visiting Discuss Flarum for the first time using Duck Duck Go’s Privacy Browser. So far so good. It instantly blocked Google and Cloudflare tracking and let me know it was doing that. Goodbye creepy ad and other tracking! Hello early 90s more private Internet! 🤓🌈

There are other privacy browsers but I’m a sucker for cute graphics. The iOS app starts with a really ducking good tutorial. And every time I tap a fire icon, the screen burns up (and closes all tabs and history).

Did not know that they now have a browser. I used the browser addon for some time. But it looks like the standalone browser is only available as an app for mobile devices? Or have I overlooked something?

Juba007 I think that’s correct. It’s only for iOS and Android right now. Maybe they’ll make a desktop version soon.

I randomly saw the iOS version, installed it, and so far it’s very nice. Works as good as Chrome/Firefox, but it clearly tells you what it’s blocking and gives each website a privacy grade. Discuss has a B+ privacy rating. It has “unknown privacy practices,” which is the only reason for the B+. I guess Duck Duck Go plans on eventually, somehow giving a summary of a website’s privacy practices are.

Well I mean every browser on iOS is identical as they all actually use Safari behind the scenes. The only difference between them is UI.

They also have a browser extension but I haven't tried it.

I uninstalled the iOS browser because something (that I now can’t remember) wasn’t working. But, I just reinstalled it and I am using it right now. Maybe after a few days I’ll notice bugs again. Or, maybe they fixed them?

I feel like Google should worry about Duck. Their search engine seems as good as Google’s, but privacy focused, and if they keep getting into the browser game… that’s a little more chipped away from Chrome.

But, I’m on the fence about even blocking harmless things like a small company’s analytics. Which is what the iOS duck duck go browser does. If everyone goes this route, eventually small websites won’t know who is visiting. I say, block weirdos from tracking you from site to site, but stop trying to block everything. 🤷‍♂️
