rg90 This method has not been updated for a while (I haven't personally used tho but you can give a try) & still u will need to locally install and upload extensions as I mentioned above.

Personally I use deployer and GitHub Action to deploy my main branch on my server... You can use GitHub action to deploy over FTPs and automate your deployent so.

Understand, so i use composer to extract Flarum files to my folder on desktop. I zip it and upload to ftp.
Run my URL and i see blank page : )

Run composer on cmd in Windows
Using the cd command I changed the folder I want to install (also on Windows)
Run command composer create-project flarum/flarum . --stability=beta
Flarum files were downloaded to my folder.

Then I zipped these files and uploaded them to my FTP.

Well, the question is .. how will it be with the update and installation of the add-on in the future .. What is the best way you wrote?

if I understand it well

When I want to download the add-on, I have to have the current folder with the Flarum installation because the add-on will not be downloaded if it does not find the composer.json file in the folder.
Then the add-on is downloaded and I can drag it to FTP.

How to solve the uninstallation of the add-on, or clean up the record after the add-on from the database?

The easiest thing would be if the desktop Composer uploaded it directly to FTP and not to my desktop, is there such a possibility?

I download via Composer language addon and i have it in my folder on PC. Just upload it to some FTP folder? (To which ?, I tried / public / vendor and it didn't show up in the administration.

EvilExecutor If you need to install Extensions, you have to do it before uploading or you can upload the,

composer.json
composer.lock
vendor folder completely

After installing the required extensions. Any wrong step can break your installation, so I'd recommend having a better idea about how Flarum works before you do so.

To install extensions use this method.

Upgrading could be kinda tricky... So to update without loosing any data you have to clone everything into your localhost (files, database) then change the config.php including the new url & database information, then follow the upgrade guide locally, when successfully updated follow this process again.

Upload the Flarum files, then import the databse.
Make changes to the config.php, including the new url & database information.

I understand how Flarum works, and why it uses Composer, I'll probably pay extra for a VPS.. rather than mess with it like that haha 🙂 But I'm still interested in doing it this way.

You don't need a VPS, shared hosting with command line access is all you need. Just search for web hosting ssh.

Yeah that's a better choice, also some shared hosting providers do provide ssh access with composer support.

It is, isn't that what you're already doing?

Essentially, if you don't have composer remotely, you'll need to run composer locally to install flarum and the extensions you need, and then upload:

composer.json
composer.lock
the vendor folder

If you need to remove extensions, remove them from your local composer install, and then re-upload. If you need to add extensions, same thing.

rg90 the only file you need to download from the server is composer.json. Download that, run composer install, add whatever extensions you need and upload back

I meant that if I have Flarum installed on my PC, if I can directly send files from it to the server, i.e. to FTP (so that I don't have to download them again to the PC and upload them manually to FTP)
