How forks work in GitHub

Hello @arektekieli What is the difference between your extension and this extension MathPlus as I am new in Github what this fork means (dividing in 2 parts?) can you please give some verification which one to prefer and differences.

[deleted] this means that StarsRiver forked (made a copy) of the code that @arektekieli maintains. Usually these forks happen when an extension is no longer maintained and the new author has an interest in reviving it.

In this case I am not sure as StarsRiver released a v1.0 after @arektekieli did.

Aside from readme changes I see no apparent other differences. It usually is smirked upon in open source for identical packages to show up, because that simply scatters available development.

@StarsRiver care to explain why you forked the extension by @arektekieli, wouldn't it make more sense to combine your efforts and co-maintain it or simply contribute to the extension if you have any suggestions?
