Perhaps I should've sent this to the extension's discussion, but since we have two of them (one for merging, one for splitting) and they both have this problem, I have decided to open a separate discussion so we can talk about this issue.
The problem:
When a post is merged into another discussion and I am following that discussion, no notification about new posts is sent to me. The discussion doesn't even seem to be bumped in the discussion list, and merging is done entirely silent.
Example case:
An example is the FreeFlarum discussion - posts often get moved to this discussion, however I do not receive any notification or E-mail that they are there. This disallows me to respond fast and can give our users a less pleasant experience in terms of our support speed.
What I want:
Therefore, I would love if merged/splitted posts trigger notifications. Right now, I believe that the data is inserted just directly in the database with no event triggering, that's why notifications aren't triggered. Or maybe they are intended to trigger notifications and it's a bug? Either way or not, this behavior has been around for a very long time, if not always and it's really annoying and frustrating, because I have to keep checking the discussion(s) I follow manually to check for new posts
