Hello, fellow Flarumites!
Our community update is a bit late this month, I hope you'll forgive the delay. We have had some busy members of our team and some big changes. First off, let's talk about Flarum.
VERSION REPORT
Beta 5 was released at the tail end of March, and the updates went pretty smoothly. There's still some errant docs and tutorials that are in need of updating out there, in particular the Extension docs. These should be resolved soon to clear up any more confusion. If you're an extension author, take note of the changes in the announcement post, these should help you get your extensions up to date and keep it running.
Toby posted a Discussion list revamp recently, which has generated much discussion. Take a moment to read it and offer some commentary if you like. It's exciting to see how Flarum is shaped by your feedback!
Our core developers are hard at work on the next version of Flarum, which has suffered a little delay due to schedules and life events. Never fear, folks, development is still coming along. Join us in the forums and on Gitter as we enjoy our brief reprieve from composer update
.
STAFF REPORT
This month, we're sad to see the departure of @luceos, our Community Manager. He decided to step down right now to focus more on his family, career and his passion for development. He's become a much loved and valued member of our staff team, and he will be sorely missed by us all. You'll probably still see him poking around the forums and on Gitter, I don't think he'll be able to stay away completely. ?
I'm also sad to report that @BlackSheep has left the team once more.
In the meantime, please offer your congratulations (or commiserations) to our new Community Manager, yours truly, @jordanjay29. I'll be trying to fill the very large shoes of Luceos, but I'm very excited for the opportunity. We have a great team and community here, and I can't see that changing much.
SHOUT OUT
We have talent all over the Flarum community, not only in our extensions developers but those offering general resources as well. I wanted to mention @sijad for his ever-useful Pages and Links extensions, go check them out if you haven't already.
We would be remiss if we didn't mention @Davis' Invite Only extension, which no doubt many of you have been waiting for, along with his Secure HTTPS and Custom Header extensions. Our extension devs keep adding such useful and innovative extensions to our community, which is sure to make Flarum a robust and comprehensive software for any site.
I also want to point out that we have a growing Tutorials tag where helpful community members have posted how-to guides for solving problems, they might just be what you're struggling with. Have a look and maybe save yourself a headache.
That's all for this month, folks. Keep on doing what you're doing. Don't forget to join us on Gitter or follow @Flarum on Twitter for more social engagement.
