SychO I wonder if I should have it actually counting the current month's stats instead of the last 30 days, but I don't know which is of value to forum admins. Could make it an option as well?
Yeah I agree, I guess the current month would make sense. However in that case when the clock strikes midnight at the beginning of a month (or whenever refresh runs after) then I cannot see last months list anymore. I suppose at this point it is more of a nice to look at during forum navigation than a tool that can be leverage for other decision points. It would be cool to click on the widget which takes you to a page with more controls/filters and a longer list since there will be more screen real estate.
For that to happen there might need to be some kind of dedicated metrics extension that kept all this info and other extensions could pull from, rather than every extension implementing their own way to calculate/store this metrics. I think AutoModerator might have plans for something like this but that may or may not come to fruition. Ideally the end solution covers metrics over any period of time (monthly, quarterly, yearly) and for that information to be optionally retained long term. Those stats could also be made available from the user profile overview to represent how active a person as been lately (posts last 30 days, last quarter, last year, all time). I think discourse has something similar. Anyway I am probably going a bit off topic in terms of this widget at this point ð
