Tag pages SEO issues

Recently I have noticed something unusual and it's not in the way as expected, maybe I am wrong too.

my site's tag pages got indexed in google let us say for example https://discuss.flarum.org/t/extensions ?page=2 and it has no canonical URL to the main tag page.

and why do these links not carrying original links? Google really do not like too many redirections please stop mentioning disuccsion ID multiple times.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You're referring to the absence of <meta rel="canonical"> HTML tag? Does its absence cause an issue?

clarkwinkelmann Yes, it is supposed to have a canonical HTML tag mentioning the parent category page (we call category as tags in flarum) so every sub-page gets canonical, so spider won't get confused and it will give ranking to the main page. 🤔

do observe the below image, I was checking the canonical tag for page2

the subpages should also have link rel="prev" & 'next' for every subpage.

clarkwinkelmann ?page= is necessary for search engines to browse down a discussion. If we set every page with canonical URL to the first post, the search engines will ignore the next page links as duplicates.

This is missing, could you consider adding this? (creating issue at core) it should have relation to previous and next posts
