Member only discussions viewing

Hi, I want to set my forum to private but when I set the permission option to view discussion and users to members only it hides everything on the page.

Is there a way to show everything but not allow persons to view the actual discussion unless registered?

So you want to show the titles? But not their contents nor replies?

I haven't seen anything that does that. Well payments does it, but only based on paying for access to view posts beyond the first N.

I don't want persons to pay and don't want it to be a site by invitation, the idea is to get persons curious about the content by seeing the tag title and description but have them register before reading the discussion kinda like how bbpress does "you not authorised to see this reply"
