Flarum often times out

So I have installed a Flarum forum on a shared hosting, and with a subdomain. The installation is working perfectly, except for the fact that every now and then, the software seems to crash for a few minutes, then comes back as if nothing happened (site is not accessible for a minute or two then comes back).

I'm pretty sure it comes from something from Flarum because my other websites don't have these timeouts, but I don't know what could be causing it. I'm using the latest version of the software without third party extensions, I don't know, however, where I could find some logs to see what is causing the problem, but I figured out I should still mention it here just in case someone else has the same problem!

Xhatz can you explain how large your Flarum installation is and how big is your hosting plan? One of the reasons Flarum has killed itself on larger communities is by using multi-word searches; fulltext search in MySQL isn't really great. There might be other reasons, but it's hard to pinpoint without more information.

Logs from Flarum can be found in storage/logs. Visiting your site feels snappy, so if you encounter this crash again you'd best check those logs for any clues. If you post them here we can help you identify a potential cause.

Thank you for your reply! It's actually a very very small installation, I'm the only one using it right now. The hosting plan can handle other CMS, so it's pretty good! It's probably some incompatibilities with PHP or something... I'm using PHP 7.4.

Xhatz that should be no issue, what kind of plan are you running? Some hosting providers use very restrictive software like cloudlinux to limit use of server resources, which makes sense from their perspective but doesn't always result in the best end user experience if you ask me.

I have the unique plan offered by o2switch (technical details here)! They show all the functions on their website, maybe something makes it not fully compatible...

What is the domain of your forum? Can we see it?

Yeah! It's https://discuss.arkros.net/project/beyond-apterra. It's mostly private though, I use it in a very restricted way (for a development team).

Hey there! Coming back with some news after a long time. I think the problem was caused by Firefox 94, which has a general problem with Ajax. Switching browser seems to have fixed the issue!
