AdamMiltonBarker I moved everything to the directory above public and updated the required settings but any time I make a change in the admin I have to manually move the js and css files generated from the assets dir in public to the assets dir in the parent directory so the changes happen. Similarly when updating profile pic they are sent to the assets dir in public and have to be manually moved to the parent asset dir.

SychO AdamMiltonBarker did you properly edit site.php as instructed here https://docs.flarum.org/install#customizing-paths ?
