What makes a good forum???

Kind of a vague question, but I'm new to forum building so I'm just curious. What do you guys look for when determining if a forum is good? Not including management or anything like that just things from a functionality standpoint. Thanks!

I may say, the topics you have hosted, topics that people are looking to expand their knowledge, things that they know and yet to learn more

Active users who take part in discussions.

Of course it's hard to get those if the forum isn't good/interesting in the first place, so kind of a Catch-22 situation.

MarcusPoree Usability and accessibility are very important to me. Innovative and surprising features make a pretty good impression. If I speak for Turkey, the biggest example of this might even be the "Imgur Upload" plugin. Because users are surprised to see that it is hosted on imgur instead of hosting it on my own server. Because, due to some popular software, we may not be open to such innovations. This example is the simplest one. Strive to be innovative and user-friendly. Use your language well and cosmetically support your forum. You can be sure that you can achieve a good momentum in a short time.

I'm not sure it's that simple, there are an absolutely huge number of forums out there that never achieve any momentum and where the only people who post are the forum owners or admins and maybe one other person. 😃

For me it should be fast/smooth and user friendly. but I think flarum is not that user friendly for non-techy users who don't know markdown according to me flarum should show some preview like android apps shows something like click here to bold your text and all that tooltips, etc.
