Only allow 1 parent Tag to be selected?

I'm structuring my forum nodes in a way that resembles something like this;

- Public Forum
    - Discussion
    - Art / Media

- Private Forum
    - Staff Discussion
    - Staff Polls

However, when creating a thread, I can select both Public Forum and Private forum as tags, or Staff Discussion and Art / Media. But really I want it so that I can only select 1 Parent Tag, and then a 2nd tag is also required and it must be one of the ones below the parent.

Was hoping someone might be able to give some directions as to how I can achieve the functionality I want. 🙂

MonteCarlo try this, goto tags extension settings page and set it to 1

Pls, any news about this? it would be nice if users can only select one subcategory...
