Discourse to Flarum backup question

I have one small Discourse forum which i intend to merge with current flarum forum. Should I take backup of discourse forum from admin and delete it from where it is hosted ? Or I need to keep it updated and on host untill migration tool is developed?

It's always wise to be able to go back until everything is working fine on the new platform. It's also wise having a backup while migrating in case something goes terribly and someone deletes the old (or new) community ahead of a full migration.
