I've observed this recent problem a little more systematically now.
On the first load of a page with image previews, there is a propensity to get a CURL error presented. When I then refresh/reload the same page, it then tends to present an image and text BUT it's the wrong info -- it seems to be taken from a different link that exists further down in the post or maybe something prior. My third attempt to load (by refreshing) usually gets everything sorted out with the right info presented.
In the first and second loading, what the user sees is incorrect but the link (if clicked) is correct. It's usually all working by the third attempt.
My layperson's sense is that it is not waiting as long as before for the correct info to load. I note that the link previews with the most problems are for underpowered hobby sites with relatively slow performance in general (compared to commercial sites).
Hope this helps.
