Problem with "Last online"

Yolo Hi! Is it somehow possible to deactivate the "Last Online" display in the list? Is it possible to do this with CSS? Some users have chosen not to be displayed as online. However, the overview of the list shows when they were online. This is undesirable and it would be great if we could hide it somehow.

clarkwinkelmann If there really is an issue with online status then it would be an issue with Flarum core itself because this extension just re-uses the Flarum endpoint for listing users.

Yolo Yes, as a normal user (only registered) you can see the last online status as well.

I am not able to replicate on a clean 1.2 install.

I have an admin user and a regular user, both with "Allow others to see when I am online" disabled. I have allowed guests to search users and view directory.

Admin can see online status of both users, regular user can see neither, guests can see neither. As expected.

Can you check "Always view user last seen time" permission is only given to moderators/admins? And that you are testing with a user who doesn't have that privilege?

Do you also see the user online badge on their profile and next to their usernames in posts or only in the user directory? The same code controls both so there shouldn't be any difference.

clarkwinkelmann Thanks for the answer. After clearing the cache it works fine again. I don't know what it is though.
Another question: Is it possible to disable the online status by default? or at least hide the display of the last online time for normal users? That would help us a lot.

Yolo I don't think there are any ready to use solution but I see 3 different ways to achieve it.

Use same system as https://discuss.flarum.org/d/18607-friendsofflarum-default-user-preferences and add the disclose online setting to the list

Use the Flarum extender to change the default setting value (not 100% sure if it's possible now. The FoF extension doesn't use this method because it wasn't possible in the past)

Use the serializer extender to set the last online date to null in all payloads without regard for the setting.

Yolo I meant programmatically. You'd need to fork the extension and change the code. Or create a new extension that uses the same code for just the settings you want to change.

That particular way of doing it only applies to new users as the use of the Registered event implies. Existing users are unaffected.
