I’ve got to one day find time to make this an extension. Using Web Speech API takes very little code. The major 3 browsers support the text to speech part. This must become an extension. People say you retain more faster, if you can have the website speak to you. So this isn’t just about accessibility. It’s just an interesting way for a user to hear a long post versus reading.
I think this could be somewhat easy to make it an extension. The hard part would be if you wanted it multi-lingual. So, actually I may not attempt this just for that reason. I don’t want to have to figure out how to allow the voices to the changed for other languages.
Maybe I’ll just dream about it. 🛌
