Show more (or different) emojis when typing :

Hi all,

This is concerning the emoji extension.

When you type : , the extension opens a drop down menu that currently only shows the following emojis.

This is confusing as one might think there are no more emojis than that.

It's not intuitive that the user has to keep on typing to find his emoji.

Can this drop down list be expanded to show more emojis, or maybe more meaningful ones?

Maybe the most popular ones such as smiley up, down, etc?

orschiro I actually like the current implementation where you just see what you type. It also stats that you have to type in order to search for emojis. I think it follows the minimalist approach of the current editor.

Actually there are quite a few extensions that change how this works:

Two Emoji Pickers with extended functionality: Flamoji and Emoji Picker
The WYSIWYG editor changing the behaviour as well

Yes, this problem has come up a bunch of times.

I do not like this default behaviour either, it's not very user friendly at all and the solution is to have a curated list of common emoji expressions by default and to go even further - the user's recently used emoji's stacked on top.

But somebody has to dedicate the time to fix this and i'm not sure it's very exciting to tackle.
