Why do I see discussion thumbnails loading?

I have an extension enabled that changes the discussion thumbnail to the first photo in the discussion. It works well, but there is one problem. When I refresh the page, I see thumbnails loading, it doesn't take long (0.5-1 second), but it annoys me. I have a fast internet connection and these images are very small (5-10 kilobytes), can I speed up the loading of these images for users?
I don't understand why such a small weight of pictures doesn't load instantly.

Malaka this is most likely caused by how the extension works. It reads that image when the discussion entry is rendered, instead it should have used the backend to set the image and possibly make a thumbnai.
