Scrolling back on an iPhone is buggy

When I browse my forum (or this forum) on my iPhone and I open a discussion with more posts and I'm on the latest one, and then I start scrolling back to see older posts, and when I reach the point where it needs to load some older posts, then something happens and there's a sudden jump that may sometimes be as big as to go to the very first post... Maybe it's a Safari bug or something but it's very annoying. Have you noticed it? Actually it becomes more apparent if you scroll very slowly and reach that point and just don't stop but keep on scrolling back while it loads: this is when it becomes the worst.

As a side note, although on an iPhone there's a huge choice of alternative web-browsers, they are all allowed to use only the internal WebKit rendering engine provided by Apple in iOS and so any issue like this one is reproducible on any iOS browser. In other words, it's not a matter of "please use different browser since Safari is cr*p" because there's no choice, yet iOS is a very popular platform. So, as a friendly advice, I think it would be good if you use an iPhone for testing new Flarum features and extensions. I love Flarum and please don't take this as critique, I'm really grateful for your continuous effort to improve Flarum for free 🙂

As a reference, from the entire traffic to my Flarum forum:

16.1% is coming from iOS
13.4% is coming from Android

So, more people are browsing the forum on an iPhone than on an Android phone.

P.S. Apologies for replying multiple times in a row. I’ve received a moderator warning for that and just realized I could actually edit my post for an indefinite time. I assumed I couldn’t edit which is why I created a new post with the OS stats.

P.P.S. I’d appreciate if someone on the dev team tests with an iPhone and can confirm if what I reported is reproducible or it’s my phone.

At the risk of being banned from this forum for bumping my own discussion (I was already warned once for bumping it the last time), did anyone look at this?

I like that Flarum is not paged as the other forums and instead offers infinite scroll forwards and backwards, however the backwards one is buggy on iPhones and at least on my forum more traffic comes from iOS than Android and I wouldn't be surprised if that's not just my forum, so using an iPhone when developing Flarum might not be a bad idea 🙂

Is this perhaps caused by images in the post or is it really that when a bunch of posts load in it chokes?

luceos it does it even for all-text discussions. The problem is most apparent if one keeps sliding their finger while the content is being loaded. If you release your finger and let it load first, it is better although still somehow rough.

P.S. BTW I notice now that the forward scroll is also a bit jumpy, although it used to be super smooth. Could be a problem with Safari, not with Flarum, but I don't have any Android device to see how it's there.
