What's your source?

One can just type in the source showing where they got the information they are posting about right in the content box. But, something similar to this, but a modal pops up letting you type in the source, would be cool. Then that source could be shown in either the discussion hero or near the time ago.

I know what you're thinking... "Ok, so make the extension." But, time is not on my side right now. Sometimes when I post an extension suggestion someone is feeling generous and makes it. 😊 But, no hard feelings if no one has time for this either.

010101 seems like a suggestion for Feedback or the newer Proposals, if you'd rather this discussion be in those tags.

jordanjay29 I'm fine with the tag being changed if you want. I was thinking that feedback and proposals was more for core. On that note, a suggestion: should there be an extensions ideas tag here?

A negative would be that overtime it might be flooded with a ton of ideas that no one would have time to realistically go through and do anything with. But, a positive would be, if an extension dev suddenly has time but no ideas, they could go through the ext. ideas tag.

A button close to the submit/preview buttons to add a source
A modal opened allowing to provide the URL

luceos Yes, icon near submit button opens modal. Then for placement likely only on the single discussion thread page due to lack of space especially on mobile in the discussion list. And it could be considered part of the meta data. It could be next to the date, it simply says, “source.” You tap that and the source information appears just like the post’s URL will appear when tapping on the date.
