If you want each discussion in the main list to be like a card, there's other discussions here about that. You might try searching this forum in depth to find other tips.
To provide a very crude example which I made ugly on purpose, you can do something like this:
.DiscussionListItem {
background-color: yellow;
border: solid 1px #000;
margin-top: 10px;
}
Which gives you:
Just in case you are brand new to CSS and Flarum, you put the custom CSS within the Appearance page of the Flarum admin. You will see a custom CSS button there.
