Grant backend permission to more that just user group ID 1

Can I make it so more that what ever group has the ID 1 has the backend access?

Davis The only one I can think of is if you successfully implemented multi-tenancy in Flarum and wanted to really break down the permissions. But there's really nothing that you can do with group ID 1 that you can't assign permissions to another group and have it act the same.

i3itCoin The admin (Group ID 1) is just a permanent admin group, and if it's really so troublesome, unassign it from everyone via the database.

i3itCoin Are you having difficulties using Flarum's existing permissions to accomplish this? Where is it falling short? What can Group ID 1 do that you cannot grant other groups the same permission?

And you can't grant admin access to a group other than admin.

Right, thanks, for a moment I was lost among different forum softwares.

Would be useful to break out admin's capabilities into an "Administrate Forum" permission. Or break it down further to "Manage Tags," and other little parts. So that you could have minor admins without giving them the keys to the castle.

jordanjay29 who's to say one part of the admin panel is more important than another? If someone has the power to edit tags, why wouldn't they have the power see the analytics? The admin control panel should be one permission so it doesn't complicate extensions.

Davis I would assume the site owner could say that, actually. As with a lot of things that we let them say, whether tags are useful or not, or if they want Likes, or if they care at all about spam prevention.

jordanjay29 The admin control panel is strictly for setting settings. If its something that would make sense for a moderator (or something similar) to see, the extension creator would put it in the front end.

Davis It's not up to us how a Flarum user runs their site. If they want someone managing Tags but not the rest, we should find a way to let them do that (provided via core, extension or extendable on their own).

I get you are trying to keep it simple but I feel that the lack of the ability to create advanced permissions for a structured community is a huge issue and gives other platforms an edge.

i3itCoin It's definitely something we should look into. Either, as I mentioned, as a core capability or something that we encourage extension devs to create.
