Looking to move a WordPress website to Flarum

Hi everyone,

We are running a Question/Answer community based on WordPress, we have over 100,000+ questions and 30,000+ answers, and we are considering moving the platform to Flarum, is there any migration script or tool for us to get started? I tried to find but I dont think there is any easy way.

mayank1059 I don't think such a thing exists honestly. There's an extension Best Answer (https://extiverse.com/extension/fof/best-answer) which would be suitable. But migrating the existing data over would require a custom migration tool.

Edit: if this question would be in Resources, I could offer a commercial solution 😉

Hi luceos, from past 1 week I have been doing my own research into flarum and have setup all the required extension, and almost everything is ready, where I am stuck at is migration part. After trying everything available online, I had no option to come here and ask for help.

I suggest you to work with @clarkwinkelmann (aka flarum doctor 💊) he provides migration service migrationtoflarum.com join in flarum discord group so you can DM him directly.

Clark also made few extension for URL redirection extensions in the past for clients he has lot of experience

As luceos said they also provide migration service @blomstra bit expensive but their service will be top-notch (bahuth mehanga hey 💰)

Are you migrating from bbpress or wpforo? Erlier someone worked on Wpforo to flarum migration script it might need little modification to work with current version (if that's the case it will not cost you much) that script is in GitHub if you are dev go and search 🔍

You may need redis (free) and blomstra cache premium extension for a smoother experience in future

I assume you also want to migrate users over? Or do you want to keep your WordPress instance for log in/registrations?

A migration script would probably be the simplest. But if you don't care about relating posts to users, one could probably copy the questions/answers tables over and do an SQL query that moves things over. I assume you'd rather keep the user relation/information though.

luceos Sure luceos I will look into utilizing some outdated script to see if I can use them by modifying a bit? If I exhaust all my options I will connect with you for professional solution.

Hari Yes bhai, thanks for the detailed response, as of now I have that WPforo script from GitHub I am looking into utilizing that. (User, Category migrate kar chuka hu, bus post ka mapping reh gaya), the theme (Discy Theme) I am using stores answers in comments.

mayank1059 in flarum we call categories as tags. You should also take care of old categories URLs of wordpress.

We don't have URL redirection plugin 😅 don't be surprised if some features are missing.

Goto this repo and try to understand how he is migrating, all you need to do it is the opposite way 😂

Wordpress posts will be discussions (aks first posts) in flarum

All answers will be the other posts of that specific discussion.
