Medelinor have you tried this extension: https://extiverse.com/extension/davwheat/flarum-ext-ads, not sure it supports exactly those slots but it does support many.

Other than this extension, is there an extension or other way to control both sides of the page (on the desktop version)?

I have searched among the installed extensions on the forum, but unfortunately I do not see this extension: https://extiverse.com/extension/davwheat/flarum-ext-ads.

Is there a step I can take to add this extension?

Medelinor are you self-hosting, or on FreeFlarum?

It seems like FreeFlarum won't add the extension because their ToS don't allow users to serve their own ads https://github.com/FreeFlarum/freeflarum.com/issues/330

If you are self-hosting, you must use the composer command as described on the extension page/discussion to add it to your forum.

Are you encountering any error while trying to install the extension?

I haven't used private hosting yet, and from what I understand, if I had private hosting I would have better control over extensions. Right?
If so, I now understand why I didn't find the extension in the list of extensions in the admin console.
