What's the syntax for adding a table in a post?

I want to create a table with 3 columns and n rows in my post on my flarum, but I just realised I don't know how.

I'm used to mediawiki editing but that's not helping here. I only have the "markdown" flarum extension installed, which IIRC was bundled at install time. I'm on Flarum v1.2.1

I can't find any documentation mentioning it.

Can I do this by default? I notice there's no table button on the edit toolbar here on this support forum.

Searching the web brings up 2 extensions - 1ku-flarum-pipetables and flarum-markdown-tables - should I pick one of them?

adam42 only the one by @askvortsov is still compatible: https://extiverse.com/extension/askvortsov/flarum-markdown-tables

It should show an editor button, if not it should reflect the generic markdown table syntax

OK, I've gone the whole hog and installed rich text editor and markdown tables.

Does this make the plain old looking markdown extension redundant?

The button only appears when the rich text editor is installed as well, FYI anyone else reading
