No dot in the menu button on mobile when there are flagged posts

When I’m on my iPhone I can see a dot appearing on the menu button (the three lines in the upper left corner) only for notifications such as mentions and likes but not for flagged posts. As a result I miss posts waiting for an approval and that’s annoying for other people. Is that a bug or an intended behavior? How can I change it?

Furthermore, why is there no notification setting for flagged posts (in this case auto-flagged by various spam extensions that hold posts for an approval)? It would be very useful if I could receive an email every time there is a post needing an approval.

On the technical side, there are 2 different features. The list of flags is one feature, the notifications are a different feature. Both features use a similar UI with a dropdown and a "new" counter in a badge. The dot on the mobile menu has only been implemented for notifications though.

I'm not sure if the mobile dot has any extensibility built-in. It might make sense to allow extension to "signal" that they have a menu with content that requires attention. Then the Flags extension could hook into it.

I also agree it would make sense to offer a way to get notified about new flags via email. I assume one of the reasons it's not implemented is that it could generate a lot of emails without any digest feature. Nothing that couldn't be handled with a good email setup though. Similar to how some of the options in FoF Subscribed extension probably shouldn't be made available to inexperienced forum owners (ability to subscribe for every new discussion or post).

Regarding more visibility for flagged content on mobile. I’m wondering if a CSS can somehow improve the situation? Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the menu that is open when you click on the menu button is already preloaded, it doesn’t send additional requests. So, it already contains information about the presence of flagged posts. Is it possible to use CSS to somehow alter the menu button, so that I can see there are flagged posts? Like e.g. change its color or something?

Regarding emails for flagged content, can that be implemented through a local extender code without the need for an extension? I am OK even with an empty email. I just need to be informed of new posts waiting for an approval, so that my newly registered users have smooth experience.
