Unique Problem

Hi all, I have a very unique problem and I don't know who to turn to. I am not technical and I have a small forum hosted on flarum, and my friend who helped admin the forum for the past 5+ years just had a major life event/tragedy and is unable/unwilling to help. He has threatened to delete the forum if I bother him again about anything.

I have no idea if running the message boards here cost money or even how to update them since I know they occasionally need to be updated or they stop working. I do have admin privileges on the forum but I think there is a higher level.

Does anybody know who I could contact or have any suggestions on what I should do, whether keep maintaining the current forum or copy it over to a URL within flarum?

kingowl we have a few partners who can help you host flarum, see https://flarum.org/partners. You can also consider moving to https://freeflarum.com but that depends on the extensions you use/need and I'm unsure how an import would work there right now.

luceos Hi there! Thank you for the reply. Actually after further review I think it is already on Free Flarum. The URL includes flarum.cloud and it redirected to freeflarum when I took out my site name. I assume Free Flarum is obviously...free.

I do have a few questions if anybody knows

Where I can find my database password?
a month ago, I couldn't even load the site, there was some error that said update Flarum and I needed to enter a "database password" which I don't know. My guy took care of it quickly but I have no idea what my database password is or where to find it.
If this free flarum forum will keep running indefinitely...for free? Do I need to change any settings or contact anybody to put myself as the main contact so I get emails or do anything to make sure it stays active?

kingowl you should probably contact @SKevo who manages FreeFlarum. If you are an admin on the forum he might be able to transfer you ownership so you can get access to the FreeFlarum management panel instead of the previous owner. Then you'll have complete control in case you want to download a backup or migrate away from FreeFlarum in the future.
