flarum.ERROR: PDOException: SQLSTATE[42000] [1203] User xx_flar already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /home/user/public_html/flarum/vendor/doctrine/dbal/lib/Doctrine/DBAL/Driver/PDOConnection.php:40

This is the constant error generated whenever there are more visitors trying to access flarum at a time.
This takes down flarum and just shows one error message

'Flarum encountered a boot error. Details have been logged to the Flarum log file.'

In log file i found the above error multiple times.

If that's not possible because of a shared host or something similar, you may need to look into something like the Redis Cache extension to store session information someplace else.

tankerkiller125 thank you. How about using some other cache extension like LiteSpeed Cache for Flarum ? If cache is the issue on shared host with occassional excess traffic

wbntff There is an extension for LightSpeed cache as well, however it won't reduce the use of MySQL for session information (meaning you'd still get the error with lots of signed in users). A mix of both Redis and LightSpeed might get you the best results.

tankerkiller125 signed in users at any instance are max 50-60 and never crossed 70. There are thousands of guests at same time and that is the problem

Can someone suggest which is best cache extension redis or litespeed cache ?
I hardly have 5-6 posts per day, 40-50 users logged in at peak time (which is 2 hours per day) but 2500-3000 guests (including bots).
since redis is not actually an extension (which can be handled via admin) and litespeed cache is not an official one,

wbntff my apologies for this promotion, but at Blomstra we host clients that peak to above 4500 concurrent users (excluding bots, including guests and users); so Flarum with the right configuration is certainly up for the task. Can you clarify what the hosting stack is like?

I run a wordpress at root and flarum in subdirectory
wordpress uses litespeed cache and has no issues unless there's heavy traffic when cache just got cleared and new cache being generated (which happens once in a month)
I felt flarum too needs to be cached because posts are hardly 5-6 per day but during peak hours of traffic, we get ₃₀₀₀ guests (including bots) and ₅₀ signed in users .
This traffic comes only for an hour or so in a day

wbntff Flarum considers all community extensions to be "First class citizens" and we actively encourage their use. While we don't review every extensions code super thoroughly, we often assist extension developers, especially for things as complex as caching.

I would highly recommend giving litespeed cache a go using the install instructions on it's extension page to see if it helps.
