Horizontal Line not working properly

Heyo!

So I have my forum hosted on FreeFlarum, and the owner of FreeFlarum told me to make a post about this in the hope someone can help us understand what is causing the issue.

The Issue
When I try to make a horizontal line, I normally should enter ---
But somehow when I do that on my forum, the horizontal line outputs —

But only when I enter ----
It does work as intended. But the strange part of all is that when I type --- on this forum, it will make it a horizontal line immediately...

How can we fix this?

Jarvo this can only be an extension, so.. the easiest way is to disable them one by one until you know which one causes the problem 🤷

What you describe sounds like a feature available in the FancyPants TextFormatter plugin https://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/Plugins/FancyPants/Synopsis/

If you have a way to perform a search through all .php files in the vendor folder for the text FancyPants, you might be able to find which extension is enabling that plugin. You can ignore everything in folder vendor/s9e/text-formatter, the results there are because that's where the code for the TextFormatter library is found.

If you tried disabling all extensions and it still happens, you can try clearing the cache to make extra sure TextFormatter plugins enabled by extensions get disabled for the next posts.

Maybe @SKevo has a way to quickly perform that search on the FreeFlarum skeleton to identify possible culprit extensions.

clarkwinkelmann thanks for the reply! According to the search that I have performed, it seems that FoF Formatting is the likely culprit. If I remember correctly, it has a switch for "FancyPants", so it makes sense that it somehow converts three dashes into an em dash, which does not render the horizontal line

SKevo clarkwinkelmann Thanks both for your answer. And yes it indeed was the FancyPants item of FoF Formatting.

I have disabled that and now it works like normal again.
