I know that the FoF Links extension helps add links to the header menu, however a lot (or used to be) of forums and boards allow you to set primary and nested tags (sections, categories) as links. While the FoF Links extension is great, sometimes you need to be able to set the tag as a link. Between the advertising/marketing and SEO aspect, it can have advantages to being able to do this.
Example: You have an area that no longer use because you found a better way to do it. However you need an easy way to now redirect to it for ease and for SEO. Unfortunately you can't link the tag but instead have to make a post with the details.
Example: You want to use a tag to link to an external source, perhaps to a sponsor or business.
So how would this work? You make a new primary tag, at the bottom is a check box with "Make a Link". When you check it, the Slug field disappears and instead a URL field appears. You add the url and save, and now you have a Tag as a Link that you can place anywhere normally could a primary tag. I would say have the link open in a new window as well and perhaps even have the open arrow or link icon to show it's a link as well.
Please vote on this if you think it would be an added benefit to the tags extension.
