Composer is failing to install dependencies?

I'm just trying to get a solid copy of flarum together and so far it's just fail. Below is my CLI output, can someone explain what I need to do?

$ composer create-project flarum/flarum . --stability=beta

I had great success after updating composer and telling it to stop trying to check my system configuration:

$ composer.phar create-project flarum/flarum . --stability=beta --ignore-platform-reqs

This worked for me.

And it was the only thing that actually worked. Flarum and dependencies just wouldn't install correctly until I used the ignore option.

After that relatively painless. And booted right up without any changes at all to anything at all, came right up and worked after above install using the ignore.

Maybe a foot note to the install docs. Is needed.
